A History of Firsts

For over 35 years, the board-certified and fellowship-trained Mid Florida Eye Center physicians have delivered excellence in eye care to over 300,000+ patients, and performed more than 150,000 cataract and laser procedures safely and comfortably. With our experienced, caring specialists placing a focus on patient education and answering your every question, you can have the peace of mind of knowing that the precious gift of your eyesight is in dedicated, capable hands.

Together, we’ve set many milestones for the region, including:

• Introducing the most technologically advanced diagnostic equipment in Central Florida
• Helping to pioneer innovations in small-incision and no-stitch cataract procedures
• Helping to develop foldable lens implants, and becoming the first in Central Florida to introduce multi-focal implants that correct for distance and near vision
• Opening the area’s first accredited outpatient surgery center specifically for eyes in Mount Dora in 2001 and the first in The Villages in 2008
• Participating in clinical trials of treatments for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other sight-threatening conditions
• Teaching other physicians’ techniques for cataract and LASIK surgeries nationally and internationally
• Being named the region’s best in the 14th Annual Florida Medical Business Awards which recognizes excellence in healthcare

Staying ahead of the curve in research places us among the leaders in eye care. Our surgeons have formed a dedicated research team to bring the latest clinical trials of breakthrough treatments to our patients. Many of today’s gold-standard therapies are based on the results of previous trials, such as those we’ve participated in for the treatment of macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts and other conditions.

We offer the most technologically advanced diagnostic testing and treatment options in our offices and two AAAHC Accredited Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
